IIM Sirmaur is celebrating Qaumi Ekta week 19th November 2017 to 25th November, 2017. On this occasion, a cultural night was organised at IIM Sirmaur Campus on 23rd November 2017. Quami Ekta Week is celebrated to foster and reinforce the strength of public harmony and national integration. During the whole week celebrations are suggested by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, which offer a new opportunity to all to reaffirm the old traditions, culture and faiths of our diverse country. Such an initiative is intended to highlight the inherent strength and flexibility of the country and to maintain communal harmony. Prof (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur, while addressing the gathering highlighted the importance of this day.
For November 23rd's cultural event, students from different states spoke about what made their cultures special. Some students chose to take this opportunity to showcase traditional dress from their region. Others roused the gathering with poems and slogans about regional pride. Students also performed music both solo and in groups.
As the only resident of the state of Jammu and Kashmir present at the event, Prof (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra, Director IIM Sirmaur, spoke at length as a representative of culturally diverse state.
