IIM Sirmaur conducted its first event as a part of the Ek Bharat Sreshtha Bharat initiative of the government of India on 6th December 2017. This initiative aims to actively enhance interaction between people of diverse cultures living in different States and UTs in India, with the objective of promoting greater mutual understanding amongst them. As per the programme, each year, every State/UT would be paired with another State/UT in India for reciprocal interaction between the people. It is envisaged through this exchange, that the knowledge of the language, culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between one another, thereby strengthening the unity and integrity the nation. The event commenced with lighting of the lamp by students and faculty of IIM Sirmaur. It was followed by fashion show by the students in both Kerala and Himachali style attire. Phukatho Sema a student of the first year PGP then enthralled the audience with his beautiful rendition of a Himachali song. The song was followed by a talk by Binoy Ninan, a student of 1st year PGP, about the history and culture of Kerala and a dance performance by the students who danced to the beats of a famous Malayalam song. The event ended with a tug of war competition between the first year and second year students of IIM Sirmaur.
