71st Republic Day of India
IIM Sirmaur celebrated India's 71st Republic Day with much ardour and enthusiasm. The eventful morning started with a flag hoisting ceremony where the national tricolour was raised by the director of the Institute Professor (Dr.) Neelu Rohmetra. Following this, a brief lamp lighting ceremony carried out by the director with faculty colleagues and students. This was followed by a string of events organised by the dramatics club of the institute "Rangmanch".
The first show for the day was a mime act showcasing the country's major achievements over the past seven decades. This was followed by a fashion parade where the students showcased India's varied cultural heritages by donning their local costumes. The artistic young minds then further exhibited one of their many varied skills by means of a poetry recitation dedicated to India's glorious past. After some inspiring words by some of the students and the director, stage was left open for the audience to come forward and showcase their talent. This call brought forward many hidden dexterities among the audience with a couple of melodious songs by the Director herself.
As the event headed towards its culmination, the director of the Institute, in her final speech, thanked all the participants for their enlivening performances. She also went on to thank the honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Jairam Thakur and honorable MLA Shri Sukh Ram for their continued support to the Institute and their personal initiative in helping the Institute to setup it's upcoming permanent campus. She also announced that the first phase of the permanent campus would be ready within the next two years and that the institute would be able to celebrate such events in a grand fashion at its permanent campus. With a final vote of thanks and an invitation to indulge in a brief snack, the momentous morning , organized entirely by the cultural committee "Sanskriti", was brought to a satisfying conclusion.
